Countless working equines face unspeakable abuse in Nepal's brick factories. While carrying bricks to and fro the kilns, equines are overloaded, overworked and continuously beaten. Most are made to work till they drop, literally. Animal Nepal since 2008 conducts mobile clinics and education programmes. It has also been in the forefront of a movement to promote 'clean and green bricks' instead of 'blood bricks' causing severe environmental damage while being produced at the expense of donkeys, as well as child workers and bonded labourers.
Today sign this petition to urge the government to stop equine abuse, and force the brick industry to become responsible.
We. the undersigned, urge the Government of Nepal to stop the abuse against equines working in brick factories. Nepal will never receive credit for producing 'Blood Bricks', exploiting the environment, and the lives of hard working animals, child workers and bonded labourers. We request you to create a responsible brick industry and stop the abuse against 'brick donkeys'.
