STOP DAK LAK, VIETNAM! THEY ARE STARVING AND KILLING OUR ELEPHANTS!

  • av: Kelly Coldewey
  • mottagare: Nguyễn Phú Trọng –General Secretary of the Central Committee and Secretary of the Central Military Commission, General Trần Đại Quang – President of Vietnam and Dak Lak Administration - All 13 Districts

Elephants in Dak Lak carry tourists all day and have to find food at night when they are chained in a nearby jungle.
Domesticated elephants in the province are dying of hunger since people have turned most of their habitats into farmlands while the government will only provide for their food if they give birth.
The number of domestic elephants in the province has also reduced from 502 individuals in 1980 to only 43.
Elephants in Vietnam have been killed for their tusks, skin, toes and tail hair, mostly for decoration and unjustified beliefs of good luck.
Domestic elephants, often die due to exhaustion after serving tourists and hunger.
Almost all elephant deaths in Vietnam have been caused by humans.
The Administrators of Dak Lak as well as the General Secretary and President of Vietnam must put in place, orders that retire these elephants from a lifetime of abuse.
