For "PORPOISE" sakes!! Let's NOT let another one of the Earth's living things go extinct!
First and foremost, you should sign this petition if you are a lover of all living things.
AND if you care that one of OUR planet's species, China's Finless Porpoise, is threatened and could be extinct in five years!
Chinese scientists are trying to save the finless porpoise, a freshwater species found in the Yangtze River. Rarer than China's giant panda, this famed species now teeters on the brink of extinction.
"If proper measures aren't taken they will be extinct in 10 years, but to be honest, we only have five years to take action," said Zhang Xinqiao of the World Wildlife Fund.
Kou is one of a handful of Chinese scientists trying to save the finless porpoise, a freshwater species found in the Yangtze River.
Porpoises are smaller and stouter than their dolphin cousins; they have shorter beaks, and live in smaller groups.
Those groups could be getting even smaller in the wild. Asia's longest river is also one of its most polluted. Scientists estimate that about 800 million tons of wastewater is dumped into the Yangtze every year. Pollution, overfishing, and intensive development on the Yangtze have all combined to push the porpoise near extinction.
The Baiji dolphin, a regal animal with its trademark pointed beak, went functionally extinct in the Yangtze in 2006. Scientists believe there may be individual animals in the murky water, but it could never sustain the species.
So the finless porpoise is the last remaining freshwater cetacean left in China.
THE TIME TO ACT IS NOW BEFORE WE LOSE ANOTHER LIVING CREATURE!!
PLEASE SIGN THIS PETITION AND IT WILL BE DIRECTED TO ENVIRONMENTALISTS AND GOVERNMENT LEADERS AS PART OF OUR ACTION TO PROTECT AND PRESERVE OUR BEAUTIFUL CREATURES.
THANK YOU.

I am launching a children's charity very soon called "Carinkids" inspiring kids to actively live & give through sport, arts and community causes near and far. Dear Honourable Member of the People's Republic of China, Prime Minister Harper, President Obama:
We, all undersigned, are aware of the endangered state of the finless porpoise of found in the Yangtze River.
We are also aware that Chinese Scientists are presently working hard to save the finless porpoise as this freshwater species, rarer than China's adored giant panda, is on the brink of extinction.
In the words of Zhang Xinqiao of the World Wildlife Fund, "If proper measures aren't taken they will be extinct in 10 years, but to be honest, we only have five years to take action."
The Porpoise of Yangtze River could be lost forever in just a few short years as what Scientists have identified is that these groups are becoming smaller in the wild due to what has been estimated as 800 million tons of wastewater is dumped into the Yangtze every year.
Exacerbating the pollution problem, overfishing, and intensive development on the Yangtze have all contributed to this crisis point of possible extinction for this adored species.
We care for all living things. We care about the Porpoise of the Yangtze River.
We have come together in order to heighten the world's awareness of the plight of this endangered porpoise.
Moreover, the finless porpoise is the last remaining freshwater cetacean left in China.
Therefore, we strongly urge Government Leaders, Endangered Species and Conservation Agencies as well as Environmentalists to disseminate each other's resources and knowledge in order to devise and implement laws that will be in the best interests of the survival of the Porpoise of the Yangtze River. Otherwise, we fear this porpoise faces a similar fate as that of the Baiji dolphin that went functionally extinct in the Yangtze in 2006.
We strongly urge Chinese Government leaders, Canadian and American Government Leaders and vested parties such as the Wildlife Protection Fund, the Natural Resources Defense Council, and the Conservation International, to come forth in harmony and peace to sustain the species of the Porpoise of the Yangtze River. In particular, to strengthen Governmental ties and negotiations pertaining to the EPA China Environmental Law Initiative whereby China has been working with great determination since 2007, to develop, implement, and enforce a solid environmental law framework.
Thank you.
