PETITION TO PROTECT THE RURAL CHARACTER OF PEEKSKILL HOLLOW ROAD
We, the residents of Putnam Valley and Kent, live here because we love Putnam Valley & Kent's rural nature. We believe that Peekskill Hollow Road is a major part of that rural character reflected through its farms, camps, open space, historic homes, a land marked church and winding country byway.
We are requesting that a resolution be passed, by the Putnam Valley & Kent Town Boards, giving Peekskill Hollow Road a Scenic and Historic Road designation, specifically to protect the character of this road by never actually or visually widening it, nor straightening it.
Without this safeguard, an altered road would endanger the safety of the residents by offering additional opportunities for speeding, for pollution of the Hollow Brook Watershed and devaluation of the homes that line this road.
