We, the people of Reston who depend on Fairfax Connector bus system for both our lives and our livelihoods, have no choice but to oppose the planned elimination of routes 552, 553, 554, 557,929, 951, & 952. We believe that termination of these lines will ultimately lead to increased traffic congestion, air pollution, job loss, and a generally diminished quality of life throughout Northern Virginia.
We hold that this action amounts to a betrayal of public trust wholly inconsistent with the principles of good governance and community stewardship; and thus we require the entirety of our public officials to be cautious in the application of their powers, to be mindful of the public interest, and to be aware that their constituents are paying close attention to their subsequent decisions and actions.
Specifically, and in concert with the Reston Citizens Association, and its Sustainable Reston Initiative, we require our elected and appointed representatives and officials to act together to prevent the decimation of these vital lines of transportation, and the resultant diminishment of our community.
