The Plant Studios' former location in Sausalito (also formerly known as The  Record Plant) has hosted such music artists as Bob Marley, Grateful Dead, Van Morrison, Fleetwood Mac, Bonnie Raitt, John Lee Hooker, Kronos Quartet, Santana, Huey Lewis, Journey, Jefferson Starship, Sammy Hagar, Metallica, Tom Waits, Prince, Beyonce, String Cheese Incident, Phil Lesh and Friends, Gov't Mule, Roy Hargrove, Dave Matthews Band and many more too numerous to list. Due to changes in the music industry and values of real estate in Southern Marin, this historic music landmark in the Bay Area is currently at risk of development and demolition.
The Artsboretum is a non-profit project committed to supporting music education and independent artists in the Bay Area and beyond. It was founded by a musician/former studio manager and is endorsed by members of our local creative community and former employees of The Plant Studios and The Record Plant, Sausalito. This comprehensive plan to purchase the property, restore the studios and form a certified green music arts incubator within the building, is a viable solution to preserve its rich legacy, stimulate our local economy and provide a significant cultural contribution to our community. View more info on this plan at http://www.artsboretum.org
We, the undersigned, support this effort and respectfully request that our community leaders take whatever steps are necessary to prevent developers from removing this icon of our music history from our cultural landscape. We also encourage your assistance to provide the resources necessary to protect this landmark from the profit driven fluctuations of the commercial real estate market once and for all, to give our children and future generations the opportunity make some music history of their own.
We, the undersigned, support AV4C.org's efforts to preserve the rich music legacy contained within the walls of the former location of The Plant Studios in Sausalito.
