Fight Against Childhood Hunger
Approximately 13 million American children are at risk of hunger every day.
These undernourished children are in great danger of social, physical, and educational problems, especially during the summer months, when school lunch programs are no longer an option. At Feeding America, we want to do more to ensure all children receive the nutrition they need.
Please join our efforts. All you have to do is sign the petition below asking Congress to make sure all our nation's children get three nutritious meals every day.
I am writing to urge you to pass legislation that helps feed hungry children living in America. During the school year, 18 million children receive free or reduced school meals through the National School Lunch Program. But summer is here, leaving many children without the same support to count on. The Summer Food Service Program (SFSP) will only feed approximately 2 million children during the summer months. That gap means millions of children may need additional food assistance while school is out.
Summer feeding programs provide the comfort and essential nutrition and energy children need to develop properly. But logistical barriers, lack of awareness, and inadequate funding prevent many hungry children from accessing these programs and getting the assistance they need during the long summer months. We need child nutrition programs that work year-round, not just when school is in session. Better funding and policy changes could make it happen.

Please, do your part to eliminate hunger and malnutrition among American children. Support increased funding for summer feeding programs.
