Urge the UK Government to Investigate if Neonicotinoids are Contributing to the Disappearance of Butterflies from the UK

The UK Government has temporarily lifted a ban on neonicotinoid pesticides in certain parts of the country and environmentalists are outraged, according to a report on BBC.com

Neonicotinoid pesticides may be contributing towards the disappearance of butterflies from the British countryside.

The first scientific study to examine the effect of the chemicals on British butterflies found that 15 of 17 species show declines associated with increasing neonic use.

Butterflies that are thought to be effected include the small tortoiseshell, small skipper and the wall butterfly.

The report stated: "Although the study cannot definitively identify the cause of the population drops, Martin Warren, chief executive of Butterfly Conservation, said that the correlation revealed by the research required urgent further investigation."

Bees are vital to not only farming but to biodiversity as well. Sadly, they are in decline due to habitat loss, the use of pesticides, and disease.

Will you join me in urging the UK Government to reinstate the ban on neonicotinoids to help save our precious bees?
