There are more than 5 million Americans facing Alzheimer's disease, and that number is expected to grow to as many as 16 million by 2050. We continually hear from our leaders in Washington that they would like to do something, but we still don't have a cure for this deadly disease.
For anyone who has had a close friend or family member diagnosed with Alzheimer's, you know how painful it can be to watch your loved one slip away as the disease takes over their brain cells.
Something must be done to stem this tide -- we simply cannot afford inaction!
Sign the petition to make Alzheimer's a national priority by increasing research funding, improving detection, diagnosis and care planning, and launching an integrated federal campaign to overcome the deadly disease.

As your constituent, I am writing to ask for your help in making Alzheimer's disease a national priority by increasing research funding, improving detection, diagnosis and care planning and launching an integrated federal campaign to overcome the disease.
We continually hear from our leaders in Washington that you'd like to do something, but that the nation can't afford it. Here is the cost of doing nothing:
* It costs Medicaid 9 times more to treat someone with Alzheimer's vs someone who doesn't have the disease.
* Medicare costs are 3 times higher.
* Private insurance payments are 26% higher.
