Did you know there is a California tax
loophole that lets some corporations do business in California and elsewhere
without being taxed?
Thats right. Because of
one loophole, some companies can do business in California and avoid paying taxes
anywhere!
And did you know that by closing this
loophole, the state would save enough to offer a refundable health insurance tax
credit to California National Guard members returning home from overseas duty
and their families?
These soldiers have left their lives
and families behind to defend our country. It is time to make sure they are protected against the financial risk of sickness
and injury when they return home.
Sign the petition below and tell Arnold
Schwarzenegger to do the right thing: close the corporate tax loophole and
provide health insurance for our Guard members.
Dear Gov. Schwarzenegger:
It is simply wrong that when California National Guard members return to the U.S. after being deployed overseas they are not entitled to any health insurance.
Despite leaving their families and risking their lives to defend America, when they return home, thousands of California National Guard members are unprotected against the financial risk of disease and injury.
Simply by closing one unfair corporate tax loophole that lets income of some multi-state and multinational corporations go untaxed entirely, you could create enough revenue to offer yearly refundable tax credits to returned California National Guard members for them to purchase health insurance.
It is both patriotic and fair to salute our troops and their families by offering them access to basic health care.
I urge you to do the right thing and protect the interests of California's citizen soldiers.
Sincerely,
