Balut is an duck or chicken egg that contains a partially developed embryo. Generally, the egg is boiled and eaten directly from the shell, bones, feathers and all.

It is considered a delicacy in many South East Asian countries, especially the Phillipines and Vietnam. However balut is sold worldwide, including in Australia.
