Women's Rights Are Human Rights: Uphold Health, Safety, and Equality for All

The fundamental principle is clear: Women's Rights Are Human Rights. Yet, across the globe and within our own communities, this truth is challenged daily. Women and girls continue to face systemic barriers, discrimination, and violence that prevent them from living with dignity, security, and equal opportunity. It is time to move beyond rhetoric and demand concrete action to uphold the health, safety, and equality that are the birthright of every woman.

We see the ongoing struggle in critical areas:

Health: Access to comprehensive healthcare, including reproductive health services, is often restricted or denied. Maternal mortality rates remain shamefully high in places, such as Sub-Saharan Africa and Southern Asia. Women's health concerns are frequently underfunded, under-researched, and dismissed.
Safety: Gender-based violence – from domestic abuse and sexual assault to harassment in workplaces and public spaces – remains a pervasive crisis 736 million women—almost one in three—have been subjected to physical and/or sexual intimate partner violence, non-partner sexual violence, or both at least once in their life (30 per cent of women aged 15 and older). Legal systems too often fail to protect survivors and hold perpetrators accountable.
Equality: Despite progress, women are still fighting for equal pay for equal work. Women earned an average of 85% of what men earned. They face discrimination in hiring and promotion, are underrepresented in leadership positions across all sectors, and bear a disproportionate burden of unpaid care work. Legal frameworks in many places still contain discriminatory clauses.
Denying women their full rights doesn't just harm individuals; it holds back entire families, communities, and nations. When women thrive, everyone benefits. Upholding women's rights is essential for building peaceful, prosperous, and just societies.

We, the undersigned, refuse to accept a world where women are treated as less than equal. We demand that leaders and institutions take meaningful steps to guarantee the rights of all women and girls. We call on Global Rights for Women, Planned Parenthood Action Fund, and Amnesty International USA to:

Guarantee Comprehensive Healthcare Access: Ensure affordable, accessible, and quality healthcare for all women, including reproductive health services, maternal care, and mental health support.
Combat Gender-Based Violence: Strengthen laws and enforcement mechanisms to prevent violence against women, protect survivors, prosecute offenders, and challenge the cultural norms that perpetuate abuse.
Ensure Economic Justice and Equality: Implement policies to close the gender pay gap, eliminate workplace discrimination, promote women's leadership, support affordable childcare, and recognize the value of unpaid care work.
Repeal Discriminatory Laws: Review and abolish all laws and policies that discriminate on the basis of sex or gender.
Promote Education and Empowerment: Invest in education for girls and women, ensuring equal opportunities from primary school through higher education and professional training.
Your signature affirms that women's rights are fundamental human rights, essential and non-negotiable. It is a demand for action, accountability, and a future where health, safety, and equality are the reality for every woman and girl.
