One of the most senior managers in the NHS has been handed a “disgraceful” payoff worth more than £410,000.
David Flory was promised the sum when he became chief executive of the NHS Trust Development Authority three years ago to compensate him for a payout he was entitled to under government health reforms.
Unions reacted with fury to the payment, which prolongs the controversy over the decision by Andrew Lansley to abolish 161 NHS bodies as part of his reforms in 2012, when he was health secretary.
