The F35 fighter jet is not right For Boise

Plans to base F35 Fighter Jets at Gowen Field are currently flawed and will drastically alter Boise's Livability. Current plans will cause significant damage to thousands of Boise residents, their families and the entire Treasure Valley. Without thorough planning and prevention, getting it right later is not an option.

We, the people are opposed to the basing of F35 Jet aircraft at Boise's Gowen Field. We request that Mayor David Beiter, the Boise City Council, Governor C.L. "Butch" Otter, Senator James Risch, Senator Mike Crapo, Representative Mike Simpson, Representative Raul Labrador and the United States Air Force to cease all efforts to promote and consider Boise as a viable site for these aircraft:

• Whereas the projected noise/loudness levels of the F35s will render large numbers of surrounding homes NOT SUITABLE FOR RESIDENTIAL USE (NSFRU) and...
• the only effective mitigating effort, by the Air Force's own admission in Burlington, Vermont is the buying of affected homes and...
• that no money has been appropriated or budgeted for the purchase of these homes and...
• the total number of homes to be affected has not been agreed upon by all parties and...
• that insufficient research has been done into the effects of added noise pollution to the residents of surrounding areas, particularly the hearing of young children in schools and daycares and...
• the economic benefits touted have not taken into consideration the costs for home purchases, residential property tax losses, decreased property values and citizens' purchasing power loss and...
• that no adequate study has been conducted regarding the effects of jet fuel pollution on the air quality in Boise and...
• importantly, alternatives for the Idaho Air National Guard or the options of locating the aircraft to Mountain Home Air Force Base are not being considered and...
• that Public officials have not produced satisfactory answers to any of our concerns nor have been willing to meet with constituents to discuss the aforementioned concerns,

We, the undersigned, state our opposition to the basing of F35 Jet aircraft at Gowen Field, located in Boise, Idaho.
