Shut Down the Shongweni Landfill Site

We are being exposed to toxic gases from the Shongweni Waste Landfill site, run by a company called EnviroServe. Don't be fooled by the name, which sounds as if it is a sort of environmentally-friendly company.
The site is releasing poisonous gases into this area leading the residents to live with their windows and doors closed and many residents are suffering medical problems. It is also thought that the polluted air could be carcinogenic.
A friend of mine wrote on November 25th: "Woke up to my 8 weeks old baby coughing...opened the window and couldn't believe how bad the smell is!!! this is an absolute nightmare".
Asthma, nosebleeds, vomiting, itchy eyes and headaches are just a few symptoms being experienced by the residents of this area. My family moved here about 2 years ago, and both my girls and my wife are suffering with terrible respiratory issues and allergies that didn't exist prior to moving to this area.
This is an amazing area that is being spoiled by a company that is taking no responsibility and is spending more time and money to divert the issues than to fix it. This needs to be dealt with immediately before it is too late and EnviroServe must be held accountable to every person suffering due to this criminal behavior. As the representatives of the residents of this area, we demand you take quick and efficient action to resolve this matter.

This has already caused serious medical problems and it will get worst unless action is taken immediately, the time to debate is long over and every day that goes by more damage is done to the residents (the people who gave you your job) and the environment that we live in.
The upper highway is a magical and amazing area, let us protect it and preserve it now for generations to come.
