We applaud the shark mitigation initiative in which $4.85 million has been allocated towards the education, research and tagging of sharks in the prevention of shark attacks. But the $2 million allocated to destroy sharks that are in close proximity to beach goers is not acceptable.
The money should be spent on research and furthering our understanding of sharks that are an invaluable part of the marine ecosystem. The people of Western Australia deserve a more educated approach to the solution of shark attacks. Please sign this petition in support of a better initiative.
