Tell Nestle: Stop stealing California's water during a deadly drought!

Using its satellites, NASA says that California only has about a year of water reserves left.

The drought means bigger and even year-round fires, suffering wildlife, fewer jobs for poor migrant agriculture workers, less fresh food (and thus more hunger), and permanent damage to our aquifers.

Nestlé is making the California drought worse - all to make an extra buck.

Arrowhead and Pure Life bottled water are Nestlé-owned brands. They're draining 50 million gallons of water from Sacramento aquifers - and selling the water at a profit, even though they pay the same water rate as the California citizens who need that water.

And now the Desert Sun is reporting that Nestlé has been taking water from the San Bernardino National Forest on an expired permit with little regulation for the past 27 years!

The Forest Service is working with Nestlé to get the permit reissued. In the meantime, as potential customers we need to make it clear to Nestlé that if they don't stop taking this water, we will push the Forest Service and the Department of Justice to punish them heavily, they will lose customers, and their brand will be permanently damaged.

Save California's water - sign the petition to Nestlé today!

The drought in California has grown dire and deadly. It is immoral and obscene that Nestlé would continue to put private profits ahead of the public well being by bottling California's water for profit, even selling it outside of California. And now we learn that you've been taking it from the San Bernardino National Forest without a permit since 1988 - that's stealing!

27 years is a long time. There's no way you didn't know your permit had expired, and yet you kept taking the water and didn't bring it to the attention of the Forest Service. Now we are in a massive drought. If you don't stop taking this water immediately, we will have no choice but to push USFS and the Department of Justice to pursue criminal penalties against Nestlé.

Your company can do better.

Nestle has definitely heard from you! Over 300 people attended yesteday's petition deliveries in Sacramento and Los Angeles, and the media coverage was great - the Washington Post, Reuters, USA Today, local television stations, and many more covered the event! We'll have new ways to keep pressuring Nestle soon, but for now, take a look at some of the great press you helped earn:
