Freedom Mobile is putting an almost 50-foot cell phone antenna Near Bobolink Park and David Oppenheimer School. There are health risks to children and the community along with economic risks to residents. This antenna is not a necessity, it is a business decision so Freedom can enhance their business and profits. There are no risks to Freedom Mobile. The community bears all the risks with no benefits. We are asking the City of Vancouver for HELP!

On September 27th, 2024 some neighbours received a letter from Freedom Mobile that they are going to put up a mobile antenna on Hoylake Ave… just meters away from homes and close proximity to David Oppenheimer School, the Kids Care Preschool and the South Vancouver Family Place.
There are known and unknown health risks associated with this. Some include and not limited to…
- Increase risk of cancer
- Difficulty concentrating
- Headaches, Dizziness, and Fatigue
- Sleep Disruption
- Tinnitus and Ear Discomfort
- Skin rashes
- Fatigue
Risk for Children
- Children are more vulnerable to the effects of RF radiation due to their developing nervous systems
- Cognitive development
- Memory
- Learning disorders due to long-term RF exposure

For residents, there are several negatives the largest being decreased property values. This was confirmed by a top realtor in Vancouver.

The proximity of health side effects and decreased property values can be up to 500 meters.
This is a business decision, not a necessity. There is enough coverage in our area however Freedom wants to make more money. We are all for business growth however not at the expense of our health and the impact this has on the community. There is all downside for the community (not one upside) and all upside for Freedom.
This antenna is to be halted and we ask the government to step in and facilitate a conversation with Freedom and other carriers to partner with existing towers as there are enough in the city. We can not let competition and profit stand in the way of the health and well-being of a community. We as a city and country are better than this!
