NOTE: This petition ends on December 2nd, 2012, to be send in on time for an international workshop on fracking called for by Environmental Minister Altmaier in Germany on December 3rd, 2012.
Fracking is a dangerous method of drilling and injecting toxic chemicals into the ground at high pressure in order to fracture rocks to release natural gas. The awful results include the contamination of drinking-water and destruction of local wildlife.
As of now, there is no fracking in Germany. However, it has now been decided that there is a possibility for fracking in the future. Though the study commissioned by Flasbarth has shown that fracking is indeed dangerous and the impact on the environmnet is questionable, the government is now thinking of allowing fracking all over Germany.
There argument is that it will be more difficult to get a permit to start fracking in Germany compared to other countries, however, fracking is never safe and always has horrifc effects on the environment.
We therefore ask the German government to prohibit fracking once and for all, to be an example to other countries and protect our nature, wildlife and drinking-water. We ask our government to be what it ought to be - for the people!

In dem vom Chef des Bundesumweltamtes in Auftrag gegebenen Gutachten zeigen sich deutlich die Gefahren der Fracking-Methode. Gleich 14% Deutschlands sollen ganz von Fracking verschont bleiben. Was ist jedoch mit den anderen 86%? Ist das Risiko nicht auch dort zu hoch?
Deutschland kann as Beispiel voran gehen und die gefährliche und oft auch korrupte Methode des Fracking verbieten. Durch ein Verbot würden sowohl Trinkwasserreserven, als auch die Natur, Tiere und Pflanzen geschützt werden.
Deutschland ist eine Demokratie und die Regierung hat die Aufgabe die Interessen der Bürger zu vertreten und ihre Rechte zu schützen. Wir bitten sie hiermit genau das zu tun.
