One year ago today, June 7, 2014, for reasons still unknown, Ms. Sacks took “Sandy” a small terrier that she had been entrusted to train for another rescue, into Chula Vista Animal Care facility to be euthanized. Sacks was NOT the legal owner of the Sandy, as she had been given $ 4300 for her "training" and boot camp services. Sandy’s legal owners, the rescue was in the process of preparing a rescue transfer based on Ms. Sacks offer to care for Sandy, and to find him a home after their rescue fees were exhausted. They had no idea whatsoever, she had planned to have him killed immediately after securing a transfer and receiving the final $ 2500 payment a day prior.
The rescue suspects that she perhaps presented a "draft" of the transfer to the shelter. Ms. Sacks then sent fake updates of progress reports, AFTER Sandy was dead for the following 2 weeks to the rescue via email to secure the final transfer. Then, five days after the final transfer was sent, a text message was received by the rescue foster stating Ms. Sacks had euthanized Sandy. For the following SIX months Ms. Sacks, the "trainer" tried in vain to cover up what she had done. She told different stories to San Diego Animal Control, the Better Business Bureau and to the rescue. Until the rescue finally issued subpoenas thru Small Claims Court they found out the truth. It was revealed that Sacks had lied about the date and location of Sandy’s death, his condition at the time of death. She continued to lie even after the truth was known.
Then later, the rescue found a very public post on the internet made by Ms. Sacks reporting that she suffered from PTSD, and describing an incident on an international flight involving her dog just days before the rescue left Sandy, their rescue dog in her care. Ms. Sacks reported that she REFUSED to place her dog under the seat for take off and delayed an entire flight, so long that other passengers missed their connecting flights.
Had the rescue been made aware of Ms. Sacks behavior, and condition they would have never left their dog in her care. Their dog ended up dead just a few weeks later. Given what happened to Sandy in Ms. Sacks care, the lies and blatant deception, the cover up, a second look should be taken before giving vulnerable rescue dogs to her. Rescues have lost pull rights from shelters for less egregious behavior. Please investigate how this could have happened at Chula Vista Animal Shelter.

Cate Sacks is now advertising her DOGGY BOOT CAMP in the San Diego, CA area again, after having Sandy, her student killed last June. She was paid $4300 for this "CAMP".
