Bullfighting lords have filed a bill to the Colombian congress to recognize bullfights as part of the countrys
"cultural and artistic heritage." " By having bullfights declared an art form, they would automatically fall under the
auspices of the Ministry of Culture.
Please send a polite letter of protest to the Colombian government, preferably in Spanish.
Respetados seores,
Atentamente,

Gentlemen,
We have learned about the bill that the Colombian congress is ready to approve for the presidential signature, by which bullfights are to be declare as
part of the countrys "cultural and artistic heritage".
We are very surprised that such initiatives come precisely from one of the most violent countries in the world. We would imagine that the new Colombian Congress and the new government under the rule of Mr.
Uribe should be more concerned about violence levels and how to teach your young population the value of life in all its forms, rather than finding ways to preserve a blood, violent tradition that goes in contradiction with the pleas of the Colombian people
for a country in peace and the return to moral values for the generations to come. The countries that still practice this salvage form of amusement are only seven in the whole world, that watches with disdain and horror such violent practices. Not because a tradition is ancient it means that it is moral,
respectful or in agreement with new world ages (otherwise we would still be amused by the Roman Circus or other salvages traditions!)We are urging you not to become part of such an absurdity, no doubt, proposed by a group of insane and senseless people who are indifferent to the pain of a
living being and who lack respect for those living beings that share the planet with man.
As Ghandi said: "The moral progress of a nation can only be measured by the way its animals are treated".
Sincerely,
