Stop greedy developers destroying the UK's beautiful greenbelt
Nearly 300 acres of agricultural land, meadows and wildlife habitat in Wisley's Green Belt is seriously under threat! Money-hungry developers (Wisley Property Investments) have submitted an application to build 2,100 homes on and around an airfield in Ockhams with no consideration towards the impact this will have on the wildlife, the surrounding environment and locals in the neighbouring villages.
If this plan goes ahead detrimental harm will be done to the rural landscape character of the area and the openness of this precious greenbelt. Damage will occur to the habitats of the protected and endangered rare species in contravention of the EU Birds Directives and Habitats Regulation.
Aside from the catastrophic effect this will have on our fauna and flora, these developers are ignoring the impact this new town will have on local residents. Major traffic issues will clog small village roads which are at capacity already. The air quality will deteriorate where air pollution is already in excess of legal limits! They ignore the fact that there are no adequate transport links to provide for the volume of people if these houses go ahead. Station car parks are already full by the end of the morning rush hour. Where are another 5000 cars going to park?

From Wikipedia:
Green belt (United Kingdom)
"In United Kingdom town planning, the green belt is a policy for controlling urban growth. The idea is for a ring of countryside where urbanisation will be resisted for the foreseeable future, maintaining an area where agriculture, forestry and outdoor leisure can be expected to prevail. The fundamental aim of green belt policy is to prevent urban sprawl by keeping land permanently open, and consequently the most important attribute of green belts is their openness."
