Douglas County Parks and Recreation has already started clearing fairways through the forest at Clinton Nature Preserve in Douglas County Georgia, in their efforts to create a 18 hole Frisbee Golf Course in the Nature Preserve. These fairways at places are 30 feet wide and several hundred feet long, and cross multiple existing trails. This not only creates user conflict but is drastically changing the forest with throwing lanes or fairways.
Frisbee golf involves high speed discs flying through the forest at speeds over 50-70 mph.
We are petitioning the county to stop all progress on this endeavor and scrap the project at this Nature Preserve and let it be put in at another county park.
This 200-acre park was donated to Douglas County by Ms. Annie Mae Clinton in 1985. The park is required by Ms. Clinton's will to remain in its natural state as much as possible. The park contains over 10 miles of nature trails, and open exploration areas.
If you enjoy walking, running, exploring, riding your horse, or bike at Clinton and want to continue to enjoy Clinton Nature Preserve without this new Frisbee Golf Course, please let your voice be heard.
