Take back the power of the vote

We the undersigned realize it is time for the American people to take back the power of the vote.

I understand that as of this date, December 2, 2011, the U.S. National Debt is approximately $15.2 Trillion and rising, the unfunded liabilities of the U.S. Federal Government is $116.6 Trillion and rising and the Federal Government has spent this year about $1.3 Trillion more than it has received in revenue (see http://www.usdebtclock.org/index.html).

I believe that every person and corporation that has some form of income should pay their “fair” share in taxes.  Many suggestions exist about what a “fair” share is and this has yet to be fully defined.

I understand that high earning citizens and corporations, current popular examples are Warren Buffet who publically admits to paying approximately 19% and GE which averages approximately 0% Federal taxation, have the opportunity to take advantage of specific tax loopholes and deductions that allow them to significantly lower their tax levels as a percentage of their income.

I understand that the inheritance tax laws that were put into place during President Clinton’s term included a misprint that allows extremely high inheritors to avoid paying a portion of the tax thereby sheltering them from fair taxation (see http://www.rollingstone.com/politics/news/how-the-gop-became-the-party-of-the-rich-20111109)

I believe that no lobbying organization should have such influence that agreements, pacts or pledges, written or verbal, should be allowed regarding any public official in any public position as the decisions of the elected public official regarding the act of governing or representing the population should be made free and clear of any external pressures, duress, financial obligations, political favors or any form of illegal actions and/or pressures.

I understand there is a risk that with an overall increase in Federal income due to a more fair tax system the U.S. Federal Government can, at its own discretion, increase spending for any or all government programs without approval from the general population.

I also understand there is a chance that the U.S. Federal Government takes any additional revenues from a more fair tax system and uses it to balance its budget to eliminate annual deficits and begin to pay down the National Debt.

THEREFORE, I hereby sign this petition and agree to vote out of office and never to vote into office any representative that has signed any lobbyist agreement regarding decisions or laws based on governing or taxing the United States of America, including but not limited to the Taxpayer Protection Pledge created by Grover G. Let’s take back the power of the vote and show the lobbyists that the power lies with the people.
