Justice for Basie! Stop Euthanizing Animals in Fairfax County
Basie the Corgi had only been missing for a few hours when her owners discovered that she had been turned in to the Crosspoint Animal hospital in Fairfax Station. Although she was in good health, with clipped nails and clean fur, by the time her owners found her she'd been euthanized for being a stray.
Please Facebook SHARE Basie's story.
Basie's owner, Alison, told WUSA9 news, "Basie died alone with strangers, which is the real tragedy. She was a baby, just a helpless little dog, you know?"
The vet who euthanized Basie claims that he was under instruction from the Fairfax Animal Control; Fairfax Animal Control says it gave him no such directions. Regardless of who is at fault, there is only one way to make sure this tragedy never happens again in Fairfax.
Ask Fairfax County to stop euthanizing animals in its shelters!
Your recent decision to euthanize Basie the corgi after she'd only been missing from her owners for a few hours is both heartbreaking and horrifying. Although it sounds like it was an honest misunderstanding, your decision left Basie's owners and other pet lovers across Fairfax devastated.
It is now your responsibility to make sure that this atrocity never reoccurs. I urge you to make Fairfax a kill-free county. Maybe with time, Basie's owners can find it in their hearts to forgive you for taking their beloved dog away from them. Until then, you can give some justice to Basie by never risking the unnecessary slaughter of another pet.
