Impeach and Convict "The Perjurious Five" Supreme Court Justices

Congress Must Impeach and Convict "The Perjurious Five" Supreme Court Justices

[Updated]

July 11, 2022: Progress! Congress members Ted Lieu and Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez sent a letter to Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer today requesting the Senate to take a clear, publicly declarative position re: whether SC Justices lied under oath at their confirnation hearings re: Roe v Wade. See the letter here: https://bit.ly/3nScs6k

June 26, 2022: Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez agrees that Supreme Court Justices lied under oath and must be impeached by Congress (trib.al/fUk9U2f). She had this to say today on Meet The Press:

"It doesn't matter if the Senate won't vote to convict. Holding these justices accountable would be the purpose."

Let's pressure Congress to act with our signatures!

----

June 24, 2022: The Supreme Court has overturned Roe v Wade, the landmark decision guaranteeing federal protection under the Constitution of abortion rights. This is counter to the testimonies under oath of Samuel Alito, Clarence Thomas, Neil Gorsuch, Brett Kavanaugh, and Amy Coney Barrett, during their confirmation hearings. Their perjury requires them to be impeached, convicted, and removed from the Court. Congress and the Senate have the authority to do this and we must demand they do.

----

On May 2, 2022, an initial draft majority opinion written by Supreme Court Justice Samuel Alito was leaked to the media, which revealed the Court's vote to overturn Roe v Wade.

The four Justices who voted with Alito are: Clarence Thomas, Neil Gorsuch, Brett Kavanaugh, and Amy Coney Barrett. During their respective Supreme Court confirmation hearings, however, each of these five Justices said, under oath, that they would not vote or even consider overturning Roe v Wade because it is precedent and "settled law," per a composite video of the hearings circulated by the advocacy group Demand Justice.

The five Justices' lies under oath constitute the crime of perjury (18 USC Ch. 79) and are grounds for their impeachment by Congress and conviction by the Senate. The U.S. Constitution (Article III, Sec. I) states that Justices "shall hold their Offices during good Behaviour." Article III further states that judges (including Justices) "can be removed from office only through impeachment by the House of Representatives and conviction by the Senate."

Additionally, Justice Alito's insistence that the draft majority opinion only applies to Roe v Wade can't be accepted as honest, as his past lie under oath has proved. As Governors such as Ron DeSantis (FL) and Greg Abbott (TX) have stated publicly in the media, their intention and preparation to revoke additional human rights is most certainly on the legislative agenda, such as challenging U.S. Supreme Court decisions such as Plyler v Doe (requires states to offer free public education to all children including the undocumented) and Constitutional amendments that guarantee free speech and the right to vote. Clarence Thomas, in a concurring opinion on 6/24, wrote that the Court should reconsider past rulings on contraception access, same-sex relationships, and same-sex marriage.

We cannot allow perjurious Justices to remain seated on the Court. They have made their intentions and plans clear that they will roll back the calendar to a time when only wealthy white men held power over all other groups of people.

We demand that Congress utilize its Constitutional right and authority to impeach "The Perjurious Five" (Justices Alito, Thomas, Gorsuch, Kavanaugh, and Barrett), and that the Senate utilize its Constitutional right and authority to convict and remove these Justices from the Court. Our human rights as a democracy require nothing less.
