Illinois: It's Time to Protect our Threatened Wetlands!
A recent U.S Supreme Court ruling overturned decades of clean water protections that protect vital wetlands. Illinois does not currently have a comprehensive program to safeguard wetlands that are no longer federally protected. Many of our waterways and wetlands are now threatened and need protection.
Wetlands are nature's water purifier for our clean drinking water, they prevent devastating consequences of floods and are critical habitat for diverse wildlife. It's time for the state to step up and create permanent protection for wetlands.
Decision makers in Springfield are considering legislation but they need to hear from you that this needs to be a priority for the upcoming session.
