The Running of the Bulls Is a Bloody Tradition That Must Be Retired!

In a major victory for animals and those who advocate for them, the Bull Run Festival slated for May of this year in Arizona has been canceled!

A group of bulls who were going to be terrified, abused, and used for cruel human entertainment have been saved. But the fight is not over.

This stateside Bull Run Festival was inspired by Spain's Running of the Bulls, an even bloodier event that actually ends in a full fledged, truly horrifying bullfight where no bull is left alive.

Sign the petition and ask the Mayor of Pamplona, where the Running of the Bulls takes place, to compassionately end this tradition!

The events in Pamplona are truly horrific. First, a small herd of bulls are brought into the city limits where streets have already been blocked off in preparation. Then, they are intentionally terrified, worked into a frenzy in order to get them running. People run with them, using the bulls' fear for entertainment, trying to outrun the scared animals. Not only do bulls suffer, but every year people get hurt -- some have even died!

At the end of the running, the bulls reach the horrific bullring, where the worst part awaits them. These bulls that have been run ragged are forced into a bullfight, where they are further taunted. They are stabbed with various weapons until they lose so much blood they can no longer fight back. After a drawn out and painful ordeal, a matador delivers the final, deadly blow, stabbing the bull with a sword or severing its spine.

While this is an ancient tradition, there is no place in a modern, compassionate world for such animal torture. We owe this generation's animals, and all future animals to come, a better life than this!

Let's use the momentum from the Bull Run Festival's cancellation in the United States to increase animal welfare worldwide. Sign the petition and implore Pamplona Mayor Joseba Asiron to cancel the Running of the Bulls!
