On November 14, municipality workers in Patras, Greece mashed a stray dog in a garbage truck, in front of children.

According to eye witnesses, employees of the garbage collecting service had seen the animal in the can, but not only did they not do anything to avoid the situation, one of them started talking to the animal. They said: "Aren't you gonna get out of there? Well, I'll show you..." He then immediately emptied the can into the truck, following it by another can's contents and started the mash machine. Parents heard the animal howling... then silence.

All this happened in front of stunned children of a neighboring school which saw the animal showing up its head out of the bucket of garbage and together with their parents began to yell at passersby, drivers and garbage collectors to save it.

The mayor has responded by ordering an investigation and asking for punishment of those responsible, but often cases like this can be delayed.
