The Long Beach Animal Shelter, which was built as a "No Kill" shelter is in reality, a slaughterhouse. Their overall rate of euthanization is 53%. 82% of cats are killed. 32% of dogs. Their adoption rate is in the single digits. They don't allow volunteers to feed, or walk or interact with the dogs...but they are allowed to READ TO THEM. Something is very rotten in Long Beach. It's not a shelter, it's a concentration camp for animals. Local animal activists have been trying to change the situation but have been frustrated at every turn. Long Beach Press Telegram is not interested in covering the story. They have created the report below to bring attention to the terrible conditions and outcomes at this shelter.
