"Loggerheads, the most numerous sea turtle in U.S. waters, have been on the endangered species list since 1978. It's the job of the National Marine Fisheries Service (NMFS) to set aside critical habitat in our oceans in order for these amazing animals to survive and recover.
With increasing threats posed by climate change, paired with the destruction of nesting habitat from land development and other human disturbances, protecting them in their ocean habitat is essential to the loggerhead's recovery".
