The Petition (wersja polska ponizej)

On 26th July, The Times published an article by Giles Coren that was particularly insulting to the Polish people. According to the author our ancestors amused themselves at Easter by locking Jews in the synagogue and setting fire to it. We have been told that we the modern Polacks (...) should clear off out [of England] and Mr Coren's response to the outraged comments was that Poles remain in denial about their responsibility for the Holocaust.

We are very saddened that some of our English hosts do not make us feel welcome in the UK. While we recognize the author's right to express his views regarding immigration, we cannot accept misleading statements and outright lies about us and our history, which may be interpreted as facts by the readers.

We will campaign vigorously against any false portrayal of the Poles as Nazi Germany's allies in the systematic extermination of the Jews during the Second World War. As the Yad Vashem archives testify, despite the threat of an immediate death penalty for anyone helping the Jews, thousands of Poles risked and often lost their own lives whilst saving their Jewish neighbours.

It has to be explicitly stated that Poland was the victim, not the perpetrator of the Nazi crimes. While the German occupiers built their concentration camps on the Polish territory, their victims were Poles as well as the Jews. We must ensure that the historical truth is not confused in the public mind by columnists who seek to stir up controversy in this thoughtless manner.

This petition will be sent to the editor-in-chief of The Times . We request that the newspaper publishes an apology for the false accusations levied in the article and for the derogatory terms used by Giles Coren.

We will campaign until we succeed.

Twierdzi on, iz jedna z rozrywek naszych przodk�w bylo zamykanie Zyd�w w synagogach a nastepnie ich podpalanie. Kaze r�wniez nam, wsp�lczesnym "Polaczkom" (...), wyniesc sie [z Wielkiej Brytanii]. W odpowiedzi na pelne oburzenia komentarze Coren pisze r�wniez, iz Polacy wciaz nie moga zaakceptowac swojej odpowiedzialnosci za Holocaust.

Jest rzecza przykra, ze niekt�rzy z naszych brytyjskich gospodarzy nie chca, abysmy czuli sie mile widziani w Wielkiej Brytanii. Choc szanujemy prawo autora do wyrazania wlasnych opinii na temat imigracji, nie mozemy zaakceptowac przedstawiania czytelnikom nieprawdziwych poglad�w, a wrecz klamstw o nas i naszej historii, jako fakt�w.

Bedziemy stanowczo protestowac przeciw falszywemu przedstawianiu Polak�w jako sojusznik�w nazistowskich Niemiec w systematycznej eksterminacji Zyd�w w trakcie II Wojny Swiatowej. Archiwa Instytutu Yad Vashem dokumentuja przypadki tysiecy Polak�w, kt�rzy - pomimo ryzyka wykonania na nich natychmiastowej kary smierci - ryzykowali a czesto tracili zycie pomagajac swoim zydowskim sasiadom.

Trzeba jasno stwierdzic, iz Polska byla ofiara a nie wspolsprawca nazistowskich zbrodni. Niemcy budowali swoje obozy koncentracyjne na terenie Polski, jednak gineli w nich tak Polacy, jak i Zydzi. Musimy zatem zrobic wszystko, aby opinia publiczna nie byla wprowadzana w blad co do historycznej prawdy o tamtych czasach przez szukajacych kontrowersji dziennikarzy.

Niniejsza petycja zostanie przeslana na rece redaktora naczelnego The Times. Domagamy sie od gazety opublikowania przeprosin za nieprawdziwe oskarzenia przedstawione w artykule jak r�wniez za uzycie przez Giles Corena obrazajacych Polak�w sformulowan.

Akcja bedzie prowadzona do czasu osiagniecia oczekiwanych cel�w.
