UPDATE
The unit will be a pet breeding facility to provide animals as pets - so we're closing this petition. Remember never to buy animals from breeders or shops though, as there are hundreds in rescue centres desperate for homes.

"Bunnies are being injected with viruses, having eyelids ripped apart, skin irritated and bones broken to further medical research.
Latest figures show 15,099 experiments were carried out on 11,895 rabbits in Britain during 2013 - a 13 per cent rise on the previous year." - The Express
Mr Bruce Allens of Bridge Farm, Throckenholt, Spalding, Lincs has put in an application to South Holland District Council to build a rabbit breeding unit on land off Whale Drove, Crowland, Peterborough. The planning application can be viewed/commented on here [Reference H23-1295-16].
It is highly likely that this breeding facility will be used to supply rabbits for medical research.
Rabbits are frequently used because they are mild-tempered and easy to handle. In addition to the suffering caused by experiments, the laboratory environment itself is also particularly noxious to rabbits, causing great stress, weakening their immune systems, and making them more prone to illness.
The British Union Against Vivisection said rabbits are forced to endure cruelty in research that often poorly mimics human diseases. BUAV’s chief executive, Michelle Thew, said: “It is unacceptable that many thousands of rabbits continue to be used in UK laboratories each year. We ask that people stop and consider the plight of these sweet animals who continue to suffer and die in experiments.”
We must stop the rabbit breeding facility from being given planning permission. If we can stop it, we can prevent thousands of rabbits from being born into a life of pain and suffering. Please sign the petition now to ask South Holland District Council to refuse the application for the proposed rabbit breeding unit in Crowland.
