STOP the county from allowing Captain Andreotti to EARN $250,000 a year killing innocent pets.
When director Beth Ward stepped down from her duties at Contra Costa Animal Services January 19 of this year, things were bad at this shelter. With interim director Captain Jane Andreotti at the helm, the killings have intensified so badly that rescuers and animal advocates are pleading for these animals caught in the snare of trigger-happy dog catcher Andreotti who has rightfully earned the nickname "Kill 'em all Jane."
For years Captain Andreotti has opted for death when dogs had been spoken for and rescue or adopters were on the way to the shelter. Facebook groups Contra Costa County Pit Bulls in Need and Contra Costa County Shelter Dogs are just two of the organizations who've been following the trail of dead dogs left by Captain Andreotti. The posts regarding the killings read like a Stephen King horror story!
8/29/2019 ---"🐾RIP CHARGER AND ROSCOE
CAPTAIN ANDREOTTI KILLED 2 DOGS TODAY AT CCAS
BETH WARD DID NOT RESPOND TO 3 REQUESTS SENT ASKING TO EVALUATE THE DOGS FOR RESCUE
(they are on a roll to alienate, kill, spin the truth, and FLAT OUT LIE!)"
7/25/2019 --- "...I banged on the door and when it opened I said please don't kill that dog, RESCUE wants it. The guy told me to talk to Shawn, the lead vet tech. Shawn told me to talk to Captain Andreotti, the lead killer (she is tied with Beth Ward for lead killer.) Andreotti said the dog was an Owner Surrender for Euthanasia. Well folks, there is a CURRENT SUSPENSION OF OWNER REQUESTED EUTHANASIA at CCAS because the county should not be in the business of killing dogs for the public at their request. Andreotti said she can kill it because of an Ag code (agriculture code that applies to our pets) and they are proceeding with the euthanasia."
1/18/24 --- "HAPPY NEW YEAR 11 dogs on the 1/23 KILL List and 14 dogs on the 1/30 Kill List at the Contra Costa County Animal Shelter at 4800 Imhoff in Martinez, CA. 2024 SUCKS ALREADY"
And on and on and on.
These stories written by caring local animal advocates who go into to the trenches and take photos and make videos of dogs they are assured will be killed. No one is listening.
What we are asking is to remove Jane Andreotti from her post as acting interim director in hopes that a qualified animal expert can be hired...someone who will listen to the voices who actually know the dogs and work with them.
The dogs at Contra Costa County Animal Services do not belong to the hirees who run the place. The dogs are the property of the county i.e. the members of the taxpaying public who support the shelter financially and in fact pay Andreotti's salary.
STOP the county from allowing Captain Andreotti to EARN $250,000 a year killing innocent pets.
Please share this petition with other animal advocates in hopes that someone out there will listen...for a change.
