We the undersigned believe that public transport fares in Brisbane are unaffordable.
Brisbane's public transport fares are the highest in Australia. They're also the third highest in the world. With the removal of the daily, off-peak daily, weekly, and monthly tickets, commuters have been forced to either purchase a Go Card or pay fees which are even more exorbitant than those available for cardholders.
The benefits of an efficient and popular public transport system in Brisbane are enormous. Both congestion and the environmental footprint of the city can be lessened by encouraging people to use public transport. With fares costing as much as, or even more than, the cost of fuel and parking, people have little incentive to use public transport.
Queenslanders simply can't afford the current transport fares. Please consider reducing them.
