On August 8, 2013, our son Rodney Wood Jr (RJ) was traveling home on his dirt bike, from his grandmother’s house at approximately 12:49am. As Rodney Wood Jr headed home and approached the intersection of Billingsley Road in Waldorf, Maryland, a Charles County Sheriff officer started to chase him. Rodney Wood Jr was pursed by at a high rate of speed at 78 miles per hour (mph). As RJ and the police office traveled down Billingsley Road going in and out of traffic, Rodney Wood Jr helmet flew off. We were told at that time the chase was supposedly called off. However, after reviewing the video with the investigating officer it doesn’t appear the Squad car stopped the chase. The video showed the officer’s car was still traveling in and out of traffic, at the high rate of speed of 78 mph, with a spot light following RJ during the duration of the chase. Rodney is still not responding to some commands because of this terrible situation he was in. We are trying to seek justice and help save the lives of any other people that are put in a situation like this. We are asking that you sign this petition for a "No Chase Law" in Charles County Md. Thank you so much we appreciate all you help and support.
Rodney was not charged with any crime because he was only trying to get home.
