Ohio – Create & Enforce Animal Cruelty Registry to Protect Animals

State of Ohio animal cruelty, as in other states, is on the rise although state officials are taking some crucial steps to protect animals.  The laws and statutes are extensive and you can read more on the cruelty issues at http://codes.ohio.gov/orc/959 & http://asci.uvm.edu/equine/law/cruelty/oh_cruel.htm.

The rules seemed to be specific that no person is to torture an animal, not feed it, beat it, mutilate or kill it and more, yet not much else is done throughout the state for the prevention of cruelty to the defenseless, voiceless beings.  An animal cruelty registry would be a crucial movement in such protection and the effort is to encourage such a database in Ohio. 

An animal cruelty registry of an animal cruelty registry would be a database that is similar in stature to that of child abusers and sex offenders with serious, lifetime implications.  Any person convicted of animal abuse, cruelty or abandonment of any sort needs to be listed on this registry.  To be accurate, the abuser’s information needs to be updated on a regular basis.  Additionally, any person listed on this database should remain there for a lifetime and be banned from ever working with animals, caring for them or ever allowed pet ownership.
