Stop euthanizing (healthy) pets in the NY Brooklyn shelter!!!

Every week there´re lots of (healthy) cats and dogs killed at the NY Brooklyn shelter, this is cruel and barbaric, those pets don´t even get more than 72 hours to be adopted, if at all, but some pets´ve been abused before and are traumatized, they need a lot more time to find back their trust in humans!!! No pet should be euthanized unless he/she´s deadly sick, f. ex. with cancer that´s spread all over the body or so, like it´s here in Germany and in many other European countries, so why can´t the USA take us as idold only ONCE and change all kill shelters to no-kills or close them down for good???
