second largest retail pharmacy chain in the United States, Walgreens's decision to restrict access to mifepristone will affect the health and wellbeing of countless people around the country.
The company is spinelessly bending to legal pressure from Republican state attorneys general, who threatened pharmacies with legal action if they dispensed mifepristone.
But this abortion pill is
still approved by the U.S. FDA and is considered very safe and effective. These attorneys general likely have very little legal ground to stand on. Yet Walgreens didn't even try to push back! It simply gave up and caved to extremists' pressure.
Since the news broke, California Governor Gavin Newsom has announced the state will not do business with Walgreens. This is an important step to show the company that the public will not sit back and accept its submission to anti-abortion zealots.
