DECLARE JAMES FALEKE KOGI STATE GOVERNOR ELECT

  • van: Ajadi Ba
  • ontvanger: INEC, All Progressive Congress (APC) , Nigerian National Assembly

On November 21 2015, the governorship election in Kogi State, Nigeria was held in the 21 local government areas of the state, and the APC and its’ candidates late Prince Abubakar Audu who passed away the morning after election day, and Hon James Abiodun Faleke who ran as a team were leading with about 41,353 votes. This election according to observers was largely free, fair and with no major incidence but surprisingly, with no clear reasons the independent national electoral commission unnecessarily declared the election as inconclusive.
The purpose of this petition is to let our voices to be heard and to be on the right side of justice and fairness:
1. There is no justification for declaring the Kogi election inconclusive
2. There is no place in the Nigerian constitution that allows a new candidate to hijack or inherit votes already cast and counted
3. Since late Abubakar Audu, and James Faleke ran on the same ticket, and since Abubakar Audu is now dead, his deputy James Faleke should be recognized as the governor elect.
Anything short of this will be illegal, and a mockery of our democracy. Our democracy is still very fragile, and it is our responsibilities as citizens to protect the gains that we have made so far. This time around we must not allow the peoples’ mandate to be stolen. Sign this petition, let your voice be heard. INEC must recognize James Abiodun Faleke as Kogi state governor elect, the APC, National assembly, and attorney general must not allow this political robbery to stand
