PETITION AGAINST THE US FOREST SERVICE OREGON DUNES NRA MANAGEMENT AREA 10 (C) ROUTE AND AREA DESIGNATION PROJECT
We the undersigned do not agree with the plan proposed by the US Forest Service to close approximately 103 miles of existing routes (trails), which would become closed to motorized use and obliterated. The motto of the Forest Service is "Caring for the Land and Serving the People." This certainly IS NOT serving the people. Riding is a family sport and these trails that are proposed to be closed are the very areas where children learn to ride in a safer environment than the open dunes, where elderly people who enjoy a little slower pace tend to ride, and the handicapped are able to access viewpoints from these trails. Closing off these trail areas will severely impact the safety of the dunes. Riders will be in a much more concentrated area causing severe safety issues. ALL OF THE PROPOSED 103 MILES OF EXISTING ROUTES NEED TO REMAIN OPEN. Further, I request that the Forest Service extend the public comment period for thirty days.
