Buster is a 9 year old male staffy. Buster's owner had been trying to rehome him for almost a year as he was suffering from medical conditions and was no longer able to care for the dog. Unfortunately, help didn't come soon enough. When Buster's owner passed away at his home and left the dog uncared for and starved for days, Buster had to resort to attempting to eat his deceased owner to survive. In this time a space had opened up in a rescue centre for Buster, and when the centre was unable to contact his owner they attended the property to find Buster, but only to find the tragedy that had occurred. The Merseyside police had attended the property just previously where questionable force was used to restrain the dog, which has now lead to a court ruling Buster is to be destroyed as he is deemed "a risk to the public" despite the charity/shelters involved describing him as pleasant and loving!
Once again a Staffy is being targeted for its breed. Even though the Liverpool Echo claims its story is only following the court case, it makes it very clear in its headline "Staffordshire Bull Terrier to be destroyed for 'eating its owner'" that its focusing on the dog being a staffy. Why not just say "Dog to be destroyed" instead??
His appeal is next week and the legal firm and shelter need all the support and voices they can get!
Please help raise awareness and show your support for Buster. Lets save his life and find him the home his owner wanted for him!!
