Iran currently has no legislation protecting the welfare of companion animals like Sudi or the farm animals she once lived among. This means that the torture Sudi went through is totally legal, and could very well be happening to many more dogs, cats, and other animals right now. Additionally, livestock like cows, pigs, chickens, and more are not protected from immense
pain and excessive stress in farming -- it is not required that they be stunned before slaughter, for example, and
