This week, Donald Trump announced J.D. Vance as his vice-presidential running mate, a surprising move given Vance's past criticisms of the now disgraced ex-president.
In 2016, Vance openly called Trump
"cultural heroin," comparing him to a deadly drug that makes people feel "better for a bit" but eventually leads to no solution and all destruction. At that time, Vance also
privately told a friend that
Trump could be "America's Hitler." Now, in a slimy reversal, Vance has aligned himself closely with Trump, embracing his lies and divisive, violent rhetoric.

Now, they're sharing a ballot.Vance seeking and accepting this VP selection marks a dangerous shift towards normalizing Trumpism in our country's highest positions of power.
Vance has gone from calling Trump "unfit for our nation's highest office" to echoing his baseless claims contesting the results of the 2020 election and propping up his conspiracy theories. Shortly after the attempt on Donald Trump's life, in which one spectator was killed and two others were critically injured, Vance took to social media to -- without evidence -- blame the Biden campaign, a conspiracy theory that only serves to promote more violence. Back in 2020, Vance also promoted the untrue theory that certain social media sites were censoring the Trump campaign, while in actuality they were targeting any and all misinformation.
Vance's willingness to abandon his principles and participate in pure deception for political gain underscores a troubling disregard for truth and democracy.
We cannot afford to let Trumpism dictate our country's leadership again. It is crucial that we stand against candidates who undermine the foundations of our democracy and promote division over unity.
Sign this petition to urge all U.S. voters to reject Trump and J.D. Vance in the upcoming election. Let's protect our democracy from those who would exploit it for personal gain and power.
