Dear President Obama and Secretary Jewell,
The Berryessa Snow Mountain region of California is a dazzling outdoor wonderland, rich in unique natural features and loaded with recreational opportunities.
Home to lush forests, meadows of wildflowers, majestic mountain landscapes, and crystal clear rivers, it is a fishing, hiking, camping, birding and horseback-riding paradise.
The region is filled with osprey, wild tule elk, river otters, the second largest population of California's wintering bald eagle populations, half of California's dragonfly species, and rainbows of butterflies -- making it one of the most biodiverse regions in the state.
Its accessibility from Sacramento and the Bay Area make it a vital economic driver in the local tourism industry.
