Help make Seeing Eye Dogs Welcomed in Public Places!
Seeing Eye Dog handlers say that businesses often turn them away or question them about their dog being by their side. They often feel discriminated against and that they need to defend their right to have their Seeing Eye Dog with them.
This is simply not good enough! Without their Seeing Eye Dog, people who are blind or have low vision cannot navigate safely and confidently through day to day life.
Businesses shouldn't be turning Seeing Eye Dogs away — they should be welcoming them!
In Australia you have the right for your Seeing Eye Dog to be with you in public spaces including restaurants, shops, public transport, taxis and even on planes. A Perth woman, Lee Ann Hales (pictured), who is blind, was recently left humiliated and without a ride when a taxi driver refused to drive her, saying he wouldn't allow her dog in the car.
Please add your name and spread the word that Seeing Eye Dogs are legally allowed in public places!
P.S. We would like to send you a sticker saying, 'I support Seeing Eye Dogs' so you can show your support and a 'Seeing Eye Dogs welcome here' sticker to pass on to your favourite local business owner to display in their window.
P.P.S. It is important you don't opt out of communications if you want to receive your stickers.
