PETA has been working diligently working with federal agencies, trying to make them understand that it is unsafe and unhealthy to poison animals for our benefit. Those in Washington, D. C. are finally agreeing, resulting in the passage of the Frank R. Lautenberg Chemical Safety for the 21st Century Act. However, the final version of the bill is still awaiting for the signature of the President making it into law.
This bill contains crucial language to replace and reduce use of animals in any type of chemical toxicity tests. This bill has finally crossed a major milestone after years of hoping and waiting but it still is facing one last minute hurdle, taking much longer to pass than expected. This is a crucial issue and we want to encourage the Senate and House of Representatives to be more diligent in passing and signing the final version of this bill, the Toxic Substances Control Act.
