The conflict in Gaza has been catastrophic for children. Over 5,300 have been killed and thousands more are missing, either trapped or dead under the rubble. Israeli children have been taken as hostages in Gaza.

This crisis impacts at least 1 million children in Gaza, with essential supplies rapidly depleting, homes in ruins, and families torn apart.

Over half of Gaza's schools have been damaged in attacks and all are closed due to the conflict. Hundreds of thousands of children in Gaza have witnessed extensive destruction and displacement and urgently need mental health and psychosocial support.

The IRC is for immediate steps to protect the lives of children, and for the international community to support those efforts.
