Tell Congress Not to Block the Creation of Protected Wildlife Areas

The "Ensuring Public Involvement in the Creation of National Monuments Act" (House Bill 1459) threatens to make it harder to designate new national monuments like the Grand Canyon, Giant Sequoia and Death Valley. This will leave these precious places vulnerable to coal, gas and other development companies, and place the wildlife living there at risk.

The Act would prevent a president from naming more than one national monument in any state during a four-year term without Congress' consent. Legislation would also require feasibility studies on maintaining national monuments and the consent of property owners if the monuments include private property.

Please sign the petition to tell Congress to vote NO on H.B. 1459 and place our native lands and wildlife above corporate interests!

We, the undersigned, are concerned about the implications of the "Ensuring Public Involvement in the Creation of National Monuments Act" (House Bill 1459).

We understand that this act would prevent a president from naming more than one national monument in any state during a four-year term without Congress' consent. Legislation would also require feasibility studies on maintaining national monuments and the consent of property owners if the monuments include private property. These regulations will make it more difficult to preserve our native lands, and wildlife will suffer and be left homeless as a result.

We respectfully urge you to vote NO on H.B. 1459 and place our native lands and wildlife above corporate interests!
