Tell iHeartRadio to Drop Show Where Hosts Laughed About Killing Transwomen

Fourteen Black transgender women have been murdered this year — the youngest was 17-year-old Ava Le'Ray Barrin. It's not funny, but if you listen to The Breakfast Club, a radio show on iHeartRadio, you would hear people saying otherwise.

Comedian Lil Duval recently joked about killing transgender women on the show, and was met with laughs from the show's hosts.

First he called transwoman “boys” and was met with much laughter from Charlamagne Tha God and his co-hosts Angela Yee and DJ Envy. Then Lil’ Duval was asked what would he would do if, after four months of dating a woman, he learned she was trans.

“I don’t care. She dying. You manipulated me…In my mind I’m gay now," he said.

This transphobic, homophobic rhetoric is not funny and does not deserve a platform. Further, the show "The Breakfast Club" has a long history of peddling ignorant, homophobic, transphobic, sexist content.

Some have pointed out Duval’s comments came the same week Dwanya Hickerson plead guilty to stabbing and killing Dee Whigham last summer. Whigham, a 25-year-old trans woman, was found in a hotel with 115 stab wounds, the majority of which covered her face. Her throat was also slashed three times.
